August, 2002 .. The Internet has been described as being "fluid". That's an under-statement! Things change constantly.
Just recently there have been some serious changes concerning how to make sure you can 'view' java applications. Here are the links to the sites where you will be able to download the tools you need for java application viewing ..
CLICK HERE to download the Free Windows Media Player.
If you see no pictures, if all you see is a gray box, CLICK HERE to download the 'Virtual Machine' from Microsoft.com.
Still can't view java applications? Go straight to Java Sun Site.
For the Macromedia Shockwave player, CLICK HERE .
If you have downloaded the Shockwave player, and still receive a
message about needing 'Active X Controls', you will need to go
to the Microsoft Windows Update site,
CLICK
HERE , choose
'Product Updates', then follow the instructions that will appear on your
screen.
To go to the Microsoft Page for the download of DirectX Upgrade, CLICK HERE
For the Power Point Player, CLICK HERE
Note to Netscape Users .. If you go to Netscape's home page on the Net, and download the newest version of Netscape, all the java applets seem to open and can be viewed with no problems.
