"Blackhawk"

This monumental Statue of an American Indian
overlooks the Rock River at Lowden State Park
in Oregon, Illinois. Designed by sculptor Lorado
Taft and built by sculptor John G. Prasuhn, the
statue is nearly 50 feet high and weighs over 100
tons.
The local people have given it the name of
"Blackhawk", a famous Indian who roamed the
Rock River Valley over 150 years ago.
